My Favorite Makers - A Gift Guide - Part 2

Here’s the second part of my favorite makers for the 2020 holiday season, where shopping small and shopping local are even more important than ever!

I met Lauren of All Dog Kind in my old apartment building maybe two years ago. I always saw her in the hallway with her three huge dogs and noticed how sweet and kind she was to them, and always thought - I want to be friends with this person. Then our building did a little pop up event and there she was, selling her amazing dog hats and bandanas and after we chatted a while, I knew my initial instinct was correct - this was a kind and loving human and she was doing good things with her business. Our friendship grew from there and so has my collection of her dog bandanas. Our dog Addie loves wearing them (even though she generally hates clothes) but now we just have to convince her to get on board with wearing that rainbow hat!

Ciara and I met in January at Handmade Gift Show and I fell in love with her work instantly. She has cards, notebooks, prints, pins, and jewelry. Art by Ciara is the perfect place to find affordable handmade gifts and art. I think her affirmation print set is a new favorite of mine and will be going on my Christmas wish list. I also love her notebooks and have several of my own!

Sherry of Harumi K is a talented clothing designer and now friend of mine. We met when Sherry asked me to make her a ring with an opal stone she had acquired. Sherry’s designs have chic textural details and transition perfectly from work to happy hour. Her clothes are comfortable and flattering and meld perfectly into any wardrobe. I own her Katy 3/4 Sleeve top and it’s one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing I have, plus I just love the color.

Looking for good quality homemade soaps and candles? Well, look no further, Liberate and Lather has you covered!

Angie creates candles, soaps and after shower butter as well as a beautiful line of polymer clay jewelry, all of which are infused with positivity and inspiration. Her candles are my favorite: they are made with soy wax and phthalates free fragrance oils (BONUS!). Plus each candle comes with precious stones, herbs, or pressed flowers. Isn’t that cool? So pretty and they smell SOOO good!

It’s really difficult for me to choose one favorite from the collection of products designed and created by Sage to Sea. From pouches, to totes, to laptop sleeves everything is exquisitely crafted, all leather comes from US tanneries as does their hardware.

Their pieces are durable, weather proof, have a low environmental impact and will stand the test of time - plus they are truly gorgeous.

Like I said, impossible to choose but if I had to - I think I’d choose the daily journal - I’m a sucker for a good journal.

Sea Witch Botanicals had a booth next to mine at the Handmade Gift Show this last year and there were so many good smells coming from their display that I couldn’t help but keep going over and smelling all the things! I ended up getting a sampling of their incense, a lip balm, as well as one of their Herbal Renewal scented sprays (which I use everyday)!

Not only does this company make incredible products but their company values, earth consciousness and self care philosophies align strongly with mine.

Last but certainly not least - Spalted Home! With out a doubt the cutest little cactus planters and kits I have laid my eyes on!

I met Jessica at Urban Craft Uprising last year and she is the sweetest soul, with the loveliest family, and makes the cutest ceramics and cactus kits. I can safely say I own several but my favorite one of all is the pregnant ladies.
