Lost Wax Charm Carving Class
Learn all about the art of lost-wax casting in this fun, hands-on 3-hour class!
We’ll work with wax to sculpt a custom charm of your choice—think a fried egg, mushroom, heart, leaf, or tiny animal (anything really). Once your wax piece is complete, I will cast it into solid metal and do the final finishing work for you. You can either pick up your finished charm at the studio or have it shipped directly to your door.
What’s Included:
3 hours of private instruction in my North Seattle studio
Hands-on wax carving techniques using professional studio tools
1 (or 2) finished brass charms
An instructional printout covering technique, suggested supplies, and materials so you can keep carving at home
No prior metalsmithing experience required! Perfect for beginners and advanced students alike.
Custom Upgrades Available at the Bench:
Metals: Upgrade your piece to sterling silver or 14k gold for an additional fee
Gemstones: Add a tiny, flush-set gemstone (a birthstone, perhaps?) to give your charm an extra spark of personality.

Lost Wax Ring Carving Class
Learn all about the art of Lost Wax Casting in this 4 hour class. We will work with various kinds of waxes to create a ring. Once completed I will send the wax away to be cast in metal. This class includes a large instructional printout as well as all materials, supplies and wax and one brass casting. (option to upgrade to sterling or 14k gold).
No experience required. After this class your piece will be cast in your chosen metal. This will take a couple weeks. You can come back for a finishing class or for an additioanl feeI can finish it for you. We can discuss this further in class.Duration: 4 hours

Lost Wax Casting Jewelry Class - Finishing - Part 2 of 2
After coming for a Lost Wax Carving Class you will return for a second 3 hour session where in we finish the metal casting. In this class you will learn about removing the spru and cleaning up the casting, you will file, sand and polish your finished piece as it is perfect and ready to wear.
Duration: 3 hours
Level: Beginner but this is PART 2. Please DO NOT sign up for this class until you have heard back from me about your casting.

My studio is the perfect place to slow down and immerse yourself in the tactile art of wax carving. This light-filled, cozy space allows you to escape the noise and focus on the fine details of your design. Whether we are carving a ring, an animal or a more organic form, the environment is designed for calm, creative exploration. I’ll have the tea ready as we transform soft wax into lasting metal.
Bringing Your Vision to Life
I have used the lost wax casting method for several years to create my most intricate and narrative pieces. I love teaching this process because it is inherently playful and forgiving—a perfect antidote to the adult "perfection trap." We’ll explore the history of this ancient craft while building your technical skills. You’ll leave with the knowledge to create your own pieces and a detailed take-home packet to guide your future casting projects.
The lost wax process is how I find permanence through art. In my Seattle studio, I blend my South African heritage with modern, hand-carved shapes to create pieces that tell a story. By teaching you to cast your own designs, I’m helping you find your own creative voice—creating jewelry to mark moments in your life that bear remembering.

Classes are usually held at 5pm on weekdays and 10am or 2pm on weekends. But please reach out if you need a different time as I can often accomodate those requests.
